Join Our Team SHIPYARD MACHINIST

We are looking for a skilled Shipyard Machinist with strong mechanical knowledge to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for machining various types of marine equipment for routine maintenance, repair, or fabrication. The Machinist will work on marine railways and aboard steel vessels ranging from 50 to 200 feet in length (no yachts, fiberglass, or wood). This position may require various lift equipment and staging while working in environments with heavy equipment, such as forklifts and cranes (training will be provided) as well as working outdoors on the hulls of vessels, marine railways, or tugboats, as well as indoors in tight quarters or within the Shipyard’s Machine Shop. The ideal candidate must have experience with a manual lathe, manual mill, precision measuring and alignment equipment, hand tools, and power tools, as well as possess strong mathematical and mechanical aptitude.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Diagnose and repair vessel drivelines, brake systems, hydraulic systems, steering mechanisms, and other mechanical systems.
  • Conduct inspections to identify potential issues and recommend necessary repairs.
  • Machine parts to specifications using tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, and grinders.
  • Machine bearings, cut threads, bore holes, shim, fabricate specialty parts, and apply Chockfast when required.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on all machining equipment.
  • Keep accurate records of all maintenance and repairs performed.
