Tucked along the western edge of Rockland Harbor, our shipyard has stood fast for over 170 years. Throughout that time, it has weathered shifting tides, industrial revolutions, and Atlantic gales. In fact, this shore has served as a key anchor for Maine’s working waterfront since 1854, when the site’s first marine railway was established.
For generations, locals knew the facility affectionately as the historic “Snow Shipyards.” During those early years, it built an unrivaled reputation for craftsmanship. Consequently, East Coast mariners paid it their highest compliment: “She is a Snow vessel.”
Building on that legacy, in 1991, Rockland Marine Corporation stepped forward to save this historic site from being lost. As a result, we successfully carried Maine’s shipbuilding traditions into a new era. Today, we proudly combine centuries of waterfront heritage with modern marine engineering at our full-service shipyard. Furthermore, we maintain rigid safety standards alongside full ABS and USCG compliance.
